7 Habits For Long Curly Hair

7 Habits For Long Curly Hair

#1 PrePoo

Curly hair tends to be dry and it is best to prepare the hair for your wash. Prepoos can be as easy as sectioning hair and applying ALOE. Another prepoo tool you can use is hair oil. I use the Brillando Hair Growth oil. The oil makes my scalp and hair strands feel super soft. Allow your prepoo to sit in hair for about 1 hour.

#2 Properly Cleanse Your Scalp

The big myth out there is to not wash curly hair because it dries out your hair. If you are using sulfate-free shampoos and preepooing your hair is protected. Product build up is real and can prevent healthy hair growth.

#3 Detangle With Care

Curly hair thrives in moisture so you want to make sure your curls are drenched in lukewarm water and your favorite deep conditioner/leave in conditioner before you start to detangle. Apply the conditioner to your hair strands, and avoid your scalp. Use your fingers to detangle each knot before using any combs or brushes. When you softly finger detangle your hair is less prone to breakage. Start detangling your hair in sections from the ends to the scalp.

#4 Protect Your Hair

Protective hairstyles have always been a staple in the natural hair community. The simplest style is a bun. These can be so cute especially if you are following the first 3 habits. Other styles recommended will be plaits with your natural hair, and a single braid.

#5 Consume Healthy Foods

We often hear the term "You are what you eat." this is to be taken literally. Fruits and vegetables are the best way to hydrate and intake proteins, minerals and vitamins needed. OdaRizos favorites are mangoes, kale, bananas, papaya, and avocados. Fruits are also a great way to hydrate, hydration is a key life factor. Hydrating your inner body will reflect on your outer body.

#6 Exercise

Exercising can be fun, it doesn't have to be dragging yourself to the gym, although it can be you happily going to the gym. The point of exercising is to move your body and increase blood flow. This can be dancing, bike riding, hiking, running, etc. It can be anything you enjoy that is active.

#7 Show Yourself Love

Let's take a deep breath and just be grateful to yourself for taking the time to learn how to better care for your hair. Loving yourself is the key to most things because you start to care. One of our favorite self care habits is listening to our favorite playlist while massaging the scalp. It not only feels amazing, but it also is incredible for hair growth. Sing along to your favorite songs and feel good while massaging.

Thank you for reading, hope you learned something new you can make into a habit.

May Peace, Love, Prosperity, and Health surround you.
